I put the jingling copper
around my left ankle.
I dance. I learned
long ago my left leg
is longer, my right leg
stronger. I dance.
It doesn't matter.



Beginning

How we fumbled
freezing our asses
in that cold house
by the light of one candle
before the power was on.
We were determined
that it would happen
that night
we christened our home.
